Amul is on a nostalgia trip! But I loved the fact that it wasn’t for no reason, but for a specific context! And across media formats!
The context is this: since Ramayana is on our TVs again, Amul dug up and shared older ads that were actually aired on Doordarshan when the show was on air for the first time!
They also pulled print ads from that period and released them in print newspapers on Sunday!
There are a lot more old TV ads are on their Twitter handle. The way they have framed it (literally!) is also a lovely touch – inside an old TV box! Brilliant stuff.
Think about it! Any brand that used to advertise during the first airing of Ramayana or Mahabharatha on Doordarshan in the 90s could have gone on this nostalgic trip using nothing but their own advertising archives!
This includes many other brands like Bajaj, Vicco, Dabur Chyawanprash etc.
But it took an Amul to pull it off first, and in style!
