IKEA UK releases 100 house cats in its Wembley store and makes it a YouTube ‘viral’ thingy.

The point, please?

People ‘in the’ video seem to be having a lot of fun…it’s their cat…their video…after all. Watching it is such a mundane experience because you know entirely well that nothing – virtually nothing – is going to happen that one may call ‘interesting’. These are cats we’re talking about…not monkeys or dinosaurs. Heck, even monkeys can’t make this video go viral.

Trust me, I’m a huge cat lover, but any sane person would know that cats are predominantly serene, docile creatures…with or without a swanky furniture store to play with. This is the purrfect example of how not to think of a (intended-to-go) viral video…seems almost like someone had a deadline to create a (intended-to-go) viral video and had just 12 hours before the finance guy went on extended sabbatical. Result? Called all his pals with cats and let their pets loose in a store…and whooppiie, so much fun!

Not for the viewers.

Here, have ‘fun’.
