This week’s Ascent (career…nay, jobs supplement of The Times of India) had a large’ish ad. by Capgemini India. The ad. is standard stuff – we grow, you grow, multicultural blah, broader exposure and more blah.
As is the new trend (See previous efforts from IBM Daksh and Aricent), this one too had a social network link beyond standard URL and email ID. No, not one on LinkedIn as I may have wanted/guessed, but one on Facebook. I went to it with some skepticism, but was pleasantly surprised by the way it was being managed.
A few observations on why I liked the page.
1. The page is intuitively titled – it is called CapgeminiCareersIndia. Long, but very apt. It is about Capgemini. It is about careers in Capgemini. And it is about India careers in Capgemini. Smart.
2. The ‘About’ section clearly explains who manages this page – “Managed by the recruitment and marketing teams”. Straight and smart, again.
3. The content is a good blend of marketing and HR-focused updates – usual self-serving content, but that is understandable given who is managing this.
4. They actually chose to add ‘Values’ as a separate tab. You could say it seems superficial, but I find it a great start!
5. They seem to be active! Not as active as an online property demands – they don’t seem to answer any and everybody with a query, but they do answer a lot of queries and that is a very good thing!
Here are some examples.
Example 1: Goes beyond vanilla response and adds a personal touch with an email ID. Notice how the mail ID is mentioned with a ‘dot’ and ‘at’…someone sensible involved here!
__
Example 2: Dicey question – most other brands would have chosen not to respond, but these folks actually had a response!
__
Example 3: Good example of a conversation that starts from a blank query…they ask questions and suggest appropriate steps. However, that ‘let me know…’ part could be an inadvertent error given how they have maintained a ‘we’, ‘us’ and ‘our’ tone all across.
__
Example 4: Good example of highly personalized response – good effort.
__
Example 5: Notice individual and different email IDs in each response! It possibly says that there is a larger team involved in this effort and all are cognizant of what is going on in this community.
