Something odd happened yesterday.
We were out shopping and ended up buying tons of stuff. The usual, you know… clothes for the kids, shoes for me and wife. We had lunch outside and drove back home.
While parking, I noticed a small’ish tent-type thing on the road outside our home. It had the branding of a popular shop and I was wondering what they were doing outside our place. I wanted to ask them, but my wife offered that they may have sought permission from the building association to set up this stall. I then let it go.
In the evening, I noticed two people from the stall looking intently into our balcony and house. I was a bit annoyed, but got into something else happening with the kids and forgot about it.
Later that evening, one of the guys from the stall dropped into our place, rang the bell. I opened the door and he introduced himself as a salesman from the shop and the stall. He said that he noticed that my undies – they were left to dry in the balcony, for heaven’s sake! – seem a bit worn out and if he could offer new undies from his shop, at a great discount!
The nerve! I got mad and drove him away. And shouted at him for peeping into our balcony like this. What’s happening here, really!?
The man went away, unperturbed, but he added something to the effect of me allowing him to look into our balcony. My wife gave me a curious glance but I told her I had no idea what he was talking about!
___
It is morning and I see that this stall is still there. What the heck! I need to speak with the apartment association in the evening.
And I see that they have left a couple of offer coupons at our doorstep! I see some on Mr.Gupta’s doorstep too, but nothing outside Mr.Arora’s and Mr.Kumar’s doorsteps!
___
That’s it! The stall guy actually was in my office today and said something even more bizarre. He said that he noticed me looking longingly at a sherwani in a shop, while waiting in a traffic signal and wanted to know if his shop can offer the same one at a great price.
I called the guards and chased him away. If this is going to continue, I need to call the cops!
But while he was being taken away, he again shouted that I had invited him. The guards in the office were a bit shocked to hear that, but I assured them that he was lying. That sneaky bugger!
___
Evening… and the stall is still there.
That’s it, this is too much. I walked up to them and told them to bugger off. They said I need to sign some paper for them to leave.
I asked them for the paper and read through it. It said I asked for them to set up shop outside my house! I told them I don’t remember doing that… I had just shopped from their store over the weekend.
The guy in the stall insisted that I asked them to come down and set up shop outside the house so that they could sell things easier to me, and we could buy stuff easily, faster!
I asked him angrily why he was following me and peeping into our balcony. He said I agreed to let him do all that while asking the shop to come and set up a stall!
This is getting too much… what nonsense is this? I will drop into their store when I want something! Why would I ask them to set up shop outside my door?
___
Finally, I uninstalled the Myntra app. The shop outside my door is gone.
___
PS: This is inspired by Disney-Pixar’s latest, Inside Out! And, this is fiction. I continue to have Myntra’s app on my phone and even bought a couple of Reebok shorts last night!
