Always stand erect – 2019, 2016 and 2008

The condom brand Skyn recently entered the sexual medicine category by launching Arise, an erectile dysfunction (ED) pill. The product’s packaging was created by designer Jean-Baptiste Fastrez, through Skyn’s agency Sid Lee (Paris branch).

The unique feature of the packaging is that it always stands vertically/erect, to literally demonstrate the product’s promise.

This is April 2019.

But, let’s connect 4 of this story’s parts to 2016:

  1. Paris, France.
  2. An erectile dysfunction pill.
  3. A package that always stands erect.
  4. A package that sells the product’s promise.

Yes! Passage du Désir, a French erotic store with a network of eight boutiques, launched an always-erect packaging for their erectile dysfunction pills! The package was designed by the store’s French agency Serviceplan, Paris!

This was 2016.

Now, let’s connect 2 of this story’s parts to the end of 2016:

  1. A package that always stands erect.
  2. A package that sells the product’s promise.

Cafe Mio is a coffee brand by Rauch, a European beverage brand. They wanted to use the longest day of the year 2016 (the winter solstice on 21-22 December, 2016) and got their agency, Kolle Rebbe (which was acquired by Accenture in 2018) to design an always-standing coffee can for their espresso shots range. The idea was to sell the product’s promise at the package design level itself.

This was end-2016.

Now, let’s connect only 1 part of this story to 2008:

  1. Always stand erect.

Astroton H4 is a brand of multivitamin pills, that contains Ginseng among other things and it marketed as a solution for physical and mental fatigue, increase in physical and sexual vigor, among others, much like India’s Thirty Plus or Revital. The TVC created for the product (By Ogilvy Guatemala) had shown the man (who takes Astroton H4 daily, of course) being shoved mildly by his boss, friends and wife… and he always stands erect after bobbing mildly side-to-side!

That’s 4 advertising ideas to make your brain stand erect.
